And, score! There, flying amidst the Rookidee flock, is a shiny specimen. They land a few scant feet away from Navy. His heart is caught in his chest. Ultimately, these creatures want to be caught, but it’s on him to do the catching. Opening his bag, he pulls out some snacks provided and tosses them along the ground. The Rookidees flock to the snack, pecking at them merrily. Notably, the shiny one starts eating as well.[break][break]
Lining up a throw, Navy tosses out the pokeball. He goes nothing. It lands true, pulling the bird inside. Now comes the hard part. Will the bird break free?

The ball clicks. Navy can’t believe his luck. The world starts spinning again. He takes a breath. Leaning down to grab the pokeball, the flock of Rookidees take flight. A Corviknight joins them, nodding down at Navy before flying off with the rest. A parent, maybe. Or a protector. Navy’s always wanted a Pokemon like this. Maybe he’ll get to show off his chivalrous Pokemon to the lady florist.[break][break]
Behind him, he hears a clap and a squeak. Turning on his heels, he finds an Axew cheering for him. It also has an odd coloration. Navy simply cannot believe his luck. This must be the VIP treatment the warden was talking about.[break][break]
“Like whatcha see huh, little buddy?” His question is met by a cheer. “Well, tell ya what. I’m trying to be Champ. You’re welcome to come along for the ride, too. The more the merrier. I’ll treat ya right.” He holds out a Pokemon to the Axew, letting the creature make the decision for itself.[break][break]
She presses her hand to the pokeball’s capture mechanism.

“Man…” Navy grins as the ball clicks. He’s got himself a new partner. Two, to be exact. Both Pokemon he wants to train going forward. If he can evolve this Axew properly, it just might be a lynchpin of his team.[break][break]
Verdant green surrounds him. Standing up, Navy decides to keep walking. There’ll be something else in here to pique his interest and curiosity, he is sure of that. Today’s a good day for team building. Eventually, he makes his way to the woods. Surrounded by verdant green trees, he sees a Ninjask – another Pokemon with a different color palette. It seems like that’s going to be the modus operandi today.[break][break]
Still, he only has two balls remaining. Best to save them for whatever comes next. As much as he would enjoy adding this Pokemon to his team, he moves on. He’ll find some more Pokemon worth catching elsewhere in the woods.

Deep in the heart of the forest, a Pokemon trains. He has trained and trained and trained within this place for too long. He has dedicated himself to the blade. Under a rolling waterfall, under the sun, under rain, sleet, or snow, he trains.[break][break]
There is no deep reason. He simply wishes to improve. He swings his sword because it brings him pleasure to do so. The blade twirls in his hand. A human walks towards him in through the woods.[break][break]
A stoic bird raises an eyebrow. He raises his sword in challenge. Out of a red ball, in a blinding blast of light, comes a screaming bear. Raising his fist, the bear defeats him in one blow. The bird is sent flying.[break][break]
A ball flies towards the downed swordsman. He is taken into the ball. It shakes and shakes and shakes.

Deeper still within the forest lies a sword cast in a stone. Its red blade glistens in the light of the day. It waits for someone worthy to come, take it by the hand, and hold it high, to raise a battle cry of victory. Long has it waited here, hidden away from the world, before these humans and their wardens built a reserve around him. The blade sleeps.[break][break]
The footsteps of a human within this sacred place stirs him from his reverie. The sword looks out. Standing tall is a man who looks…calm. Centered. If a blade could blink, this blade would do so. He tries to speak but remembers blades have no voices.[break][break]
The red blade tries to warn the human. Anyone unworthy will meet their death when their hands clasp the blade. Apprehension fills him. No one’s ever made it here before. What does he do if he kills the first human to find him?[break][break]
It’s a question that will go unanswered. Instead of reaching out to grab the blade, the human senses the threat when he sees one. A white ball plinks against the red sword. It opens. Red light sucks him into its depths.[break][break]
A question rings through the forest.[break][break]
“HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH---” Cut short by the shaking of a pokeball.
